My S2K is TICKING VERY VERY LOUD.........WTF..........
Hey, um yeah, that's right, I'm wondering what the hell it is, and I hope it's not the Head.......my car has plenty of oil. This crap kinda started when it seemed as though I was hitting fuel cut @ 5000RPM then 7000RPM then VTEC would kick in @ 8000RPM in 1st gear. In 2nd gear, VTEC never kicked in. I went to Honda Cars of McKinney and they said it could be my computer on Sat. But Sat. night as I pulled into my apt. complex, I noticed a loud ticking noise coming from the top of my engine, dead center. The noise gets louder and faster as the RPM's go up, hell it even happens in Neutral. It's going back to the dealership on Mon, b/c that's when I had an app.

bring it to your dealer, ask them to check the clearances on the valves, my integra was doing the same thing. Well, actually, i noticed it, my friend who is a honda tech. never until he pulled the valve cover, then he checked and some were off. that sounds like what it is, nothing to be alarmed over! Do you bring it up high in the rpms alot?
rod bearing.
I did the same thing - but it was because I ran out of oil. VTEC also won't engage when you run it dry (no oil)

rod bearing.
To fix it requires removal of the crankshaft (mainly for inspection) and new bearings - followed by a new break-in period.

what if I just pull the rods and replace the bearings without pulling the crank, is it certain that if there is damage to the bearings that there will be damage to the crank. I hope not.

I went to the dealer, but they don't know what the problem is. They are just replacing the entire engine, tranny, rear taillight asymbly b/c of condensation, and my two front seats, b/c you could see the seams splitting. I'm going up there today b/c the Service/Parts Director who is one of my ex-bosses trying to screw me, wants to talk to me.
Your engine probably suffered from a failed #4 cylinder. It is a "common" problem that shows itself with a very loud tick.
See http://www.s2ki.com and do a search.

Several people had oil starvation to Cylinder #4. This results in some very bad things in there.
Do a search for this on http://www.s2ki.com as it has been discussed often.
