Default Brake problems

1. Okay my '91 Civic is making a funny noise, it just started recently. It started the other day when I was driving. It makes a grinding noise. It gets worse as I slow down, now here is the thing...
When I hit the brakes while turning, I hear a Pop! Like my tire popping or something.
2. Steering shakes at high speeds...do I need alignment?

3. Didn't Hondamotorsport.com's prices go up. Wasn't a B16 Sir I only $645.00, now it's like $1300.00

4. Would it be okay to just cut my coil springs instead of buying performance springs. I heard this is how they did it in the past.

Any info would be great, please no "yes" or "no" or " "

Thanks

ok on the brake questions, when your brakes wear down enough there is a little piece of metal that grinds to tell you that you " NEED NEW BRAKES" . LOL so you need new ones.

the shaking at high speeds could be alignment , or your tires need a high speed balance

the prices on the motor i don't know

and don't cut your springs, you will have th most bouncy and uncomfortable ride out there

does your steering start shaking when you press the brakes it could be your brakes rotors are warped yeah and if its starting to make a loud noise i would replace your pad and rotor or drums, also like trinity said your tires might need to be balanced staticly and dynamicly.

for Question #1 and 2..id say one of your axles are taking a crap, time to replace...alignment wont help shakes..but of coarse, check brakes and balance tires while u got it apart
