Default JDM H22A Autotensioners

Has anyone had a problem with the JDM Autotensioners, or just the USDM engines?

Same as the US spec ones. If you have a JDM engine, you should replace the auto-tensioner before installing/running the engine.

I've been running the auto-tensioner on my JDM H for more than 2 yrs now - no problems to speak of yet.

I still don't get why Honda engineers had to make the tensioner so complex. Both the manual and auto tensioner. Couldn't that have made something like the brackets used to keep the accessory belts tight??

Oh well.

Oh well.</TD></TR></TABLE>''The whole point was as the belt loosened over time the tensioner would automatically tighten the belt reducing the possibility of belt swap/skipping and problems. Unfortunately it also has to issue of failure, which they didn't expect/

Easy, with a good USDM tensioner, the original poster doesn't need to look for a JDM tensioner...

it's talking about the problems with the autotensioners, not where to get a "good" one.

Just switch to a manual tensioner, less hassle, less problems

I couldn't find any recall info either. If they really do have improved auto tensioners, is there some exchange program, do you just have to buy them, or???

no you have to buy them. They come in a kit along with the timing blet. the kit costs $132 and some change.

It's probably just a TSB (technical service bulletin)

It's not even a TSB. Just an updated part (that has yet to be proven to be any more reliable than the original).
