Default I blew the seal in my new turbo...high oil pressure??

recently my turbo started smoking and eating up alot of oil. i've heard of h22's having too high of oil pressure and that they tend to blow out turbos. how do you guys run your turbo line. i have mine tapped off the head. im running a -5 oil line...do i need a re-stricter or something??

-5 is extremely too large, your seals are probably toast from the amount of oil pressure that was generated with the large line.

I don't know anything about it, but I remember reading a thread about the high oil pressures in VTEC motors and the quick destruction of the turbo seals. It seemed like a few of the Civic guys were just using a 3AN fitting inline with the oil feed to keep the pressures down.

i tapped right at the oil pump. i used a -4an, but will be going down to a - 3an for this reason.

the prob i see is this. take a water hose and turn it on full w/no nozzle, that will rep. a -4 line. now squeeze the hose to rep. a -3 an, what happens to the pressure, it goes up. volume is down but pressure is up. so my question is, will a smaller line really help, or hurt it?

a smaller line will help, because the volume is lower. yes the pressure would go up but you dont have as much oil pushing on the turbo seals.
