Opinions on if this Civic is a good deal.
Looking for a first car and close by there is an '89 Civic Si 5 speed. The car's engine runs strong, the clutch is good, and there's no rust on it (no rust in New York, heh), and a bit over 150k on the odometer. But on to it's problems. The owner has been told that one of the relays by the radiator isn't functioning, causing the radiator fans to work only when the A/C is on. The biggest concern is this, he says that after fueling the car up and it sitting until the next drive, it will not start, and the engine bay smells of fuel, but replacing the fuel filter in the engine bay remedies this. I don't know what's causing that, nor why the fuel filter fixes it, which is what I'm worried about. And lastly, he's only selling the car for $500 or best offer, so I thought it might be worth looking into. Thanks for any replies guys.

For $500 you really cant lose. Even if it is a bigger problem youre getting a great car to build off of for practically nothing. Buy it!
