Default I might buy a 1991 dx sedan but i have some quetions first...

i am looking at a blue 1991 dx sedan with a 5 speed. sadly no tach... the car will need new rear quarter panles because they are rusty and there is a little bit of what i think is surface rust under part of the doors but no other rust spots i think. it also needs a new transmission bushing but the engine runs good. it has 138,000 miles on it. the dealer is asking $975 for the car but if i do go through with it i will trade him my galant straight up for the civic. what i want to know is, for the price, would this be a good beater/ long term build up? what i want to do first is replace the tranny bushing and install a tach. info on doing those 2 things would be nice. later on i will be putting in a d16z6 so i want to know a bit about the conversion...

other then that anything else you can tell me would be great. thanks.

i know... i asked the guy if he would take less but he said no... my '93 galant is worth a fe hundred more ($1100?) and i've had it for sale for a few months now but no one would offer more then $900 for it. i asked the guy if he would do a straight up trade for me car and he said he would if he liked my car... my galant is nicer then the civic but... its a galant. i need an ef sedan. thr car is a manual so its not all bad... i've even gotten past the ugly blue inside... its a nice car except for what i said was wrong with it... i kinda hope to buy it but i'll have to talk to my dad first... he'll wanna look at it with me...

i know i woulding go over 700 for that car with 138K on it.

when i bought mine from my grandma, take to note, no rust just over 90K flawless interior, for 2K.

it depends on what you'll do with it but i sugest getting a LX or EX.

If you really hate the Galant and that guy is willing to do a straight trade, i'd say go for it. You might be taking a loss but in my eyes its worth losing that money to get a car you really want and not having to worry about selling the Galant. Rust is fixable. It might not be cheap, especially if you cant do it yourself but it is fixable.

Any USDM 88-91 Civic/CRX cluster with a tach will plug right in. Its plug& play so thats not a problem. If its going to be a long term build up or a beater it sounds like a deal to me. Of course others have found once in a lifetime deals but thats not common so dont stop everything and hope you find one too. I'd say trade it.

The clusters are on eBay all the time. I saw at least two earlier. The sedan above has the JDM front end so his headlights are one piece and the corner is clear. You can get APC or comapnies like that that make clear corners. If you want to do the one piece headlights you either need the whole front clip or you have to do some serious pounding on your USDM radiator support.

88 DX sedans are the lightest of them all, I would say that would be the best choice.

I would see if you can sell your galant for a little more, then have a few extra bucks when u buy the civic.

I also have a cluster with tach from a 90 crx i would be willing to let go for 30 plus shipping
