im prety sure the ls has longer gears..the only way that is going to benifit you ide think is if your planning on going turbo..on all motor/supercharger/nos the shorter gear should be better in the quarter

LS GSR
1st 3.230 3.230
2nd 1.900 1.900
3rd 1.269 1.360
4th 0.966 1.034
5th 0.787 0.848
Final Drive 4.266 4.400
Reverse 3.000 3.000

Here are the ratios for the LS and GSR (94-01), the LS does have longer gearing. Like kovert said, some people like LS transmissions for turbo applications due to the longer gearing. If you are going NA than I would go with the GSR tranny. Keep in mind that some like the LS tranny better for freeway cruising because it sits at a lower RPM at highway speeds (less buzz, a GSR is humming along at 4000rpm at 80mph).

Lets stop one thing before it starts.

Longer gearing for turbo isn't better! PERIOD.
-shorter gearing equals better acceleration. The LS tranny is a dog from 3rd up. Its the worst tranny to have for any modified integra. Yes, you can have nice cruise RPM's on the highway, but thats the only plus to it. The GSR tranny is right in the middle, great gearing for all motor/turbo/supercharger/nos and good for cruising aswell, its a great upgrade for anyone with an LS. Now the ITR tranny or B16 tranny is the best in stock form. Its got the shortest gearing and the best acceleration. Its your best bet for all motor. Some will say the GSR tranny is the ideal tranny for turbo applications, the others will say ITR/B16, nobody will say the LS tranny unless they are pushing around 500whp and it doesn't really matter what your gearing is when your hauling along like that. The gearing is just too long.

Grabbing yourself a final drive is an even better choice. I've had 2 different trannies in my GSR. The one I currently have with my Turbo setup is a stock GSR tranny with a dual centerforce clutch and a 7.5lb flywheel, I love it, I think its perfect for my 250whp turbo teg. Great for cruising and acceleration. Now last year I was pushing 190whp all motor in my GSR, I had a ITR tranny with a 4.785 JDM FD, Kaaz LSD, Exedy clutch and a 7.5lb flywheel....It was perfect gearing for my all motor setup and it was a major upgrade from my GSR tranny at the time. However, highway driving really was awful and the gearing was really short. I had to go back to my GSR tranny for turbo.

Please don't post if you actually think the LS tranny is the best because its got long gears.

Ah yes, I didn't really answer your question, I would go with the GSR tranny as well. I hate my LS tranny, even though I have an old school YS1 (cable), it's still comparable in it's utter lack of acceleration. The LS tranny could work fine for you, but there are better choices.

Although I said <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by purplegsr &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Like kovert said, some people like LS transmissions for turbo applications due to the longer gearing.
</TD></TR></TABLE> I don't necessarily think they are right. The GSR is a good tranny for most applications, whether it be FI or NA.

sorry ...i prefer a longer gear in a high hp car {{so im not rowing gears like a mad man}}} in every day street ability a gsr will work better ...what are your goals??? in higher hp longer gear is better as it puts mre load on the turbo which turbos love ....maby its diferant on hondas but on my turbo stang i had to run a 3.27 gear ..instead of a 3.73 whick i ran in my supercharged setup..i ran .5 second faster with the longer gear

I agree 100%. I've had all three (LS, GSR, and ITR), and the LS tranny SUCKS. I just switched from a LS to a GSR tranny on my all motor B20. HUGE difference. I would never, ever, in a million years use the LS transmission again (unless my GSR takes a ****...in which case Jun1or is going to be walking around with a bell housing on his head).
