Default Front upper strut bar question

I have a 3piece strut bar (I know 1piece is better, but it was free)

Do you tighten the "bolts" so the pressure is pulling on the mounts like this:

or tighten them to push like this:

Thanks,

Nick

Really? Why? I thought that it would support more if both were pushing out?

if anything you'd want the bar to be in tension, vs compression, since the original mounts would work as a pivot in theory, and cornering force would create a positive moment, and if the strut bar is in tension it will counteract by creating a negative moment.

this is all theoretical and i'm pretty sure it doesn't matter.

i wonder what the cross sectional free body diagram of the chassis would look like, according to these strut bar manufacturers.
