shaking/vibrating after rims put on
just put on 16" masitaly rims on 97gs-r ... the wheels have been balanced but for some reason when doing high speeds i can feel the car shaking/floor board vibrating ... also when i'm just rolling i can somewhat hear the wheels rolling or something ... is it just taht some rims weren't meant for some cars or do i need to do something else when putting new rims on ...
probably seems obvious, but check to make sure all your lug nuts are fully tightened. that happened to me once a long time ago, i thought it was my alignment but some of the bolts had come loose
holy ****, my bolts came loose earlier today and that **** would make a loud *** smacking noise, unless you gave it gas or used the brakes.... damn and i had no lugwrench in the back... so i drove home stopping every couple miles to finger tighten them

mattman4444, that sucks.... sheesh.
to original post'er: re-balance. road noise comes from larger diameter rims because the larger rim needs a smaller sidewall tire, the sidewall thats smaller is really stiff and close to the tread and transfers alot of noise to the rim, that transfers to the car and to your ears. usually tires for larger diameter rims are aimed at perfromance, and performance tires make more noise.

if they are after market wheels, meaning, not oem for you car, then you will have to get hub centering(some stores call them centrificle) rings. i bought a set from hmmm.. damn i forgot the name. but it was a major wheel store,.. many aftermarket wheel stores should have them, they were $12 installed.. nice huh. but everyones prices were different. just know how to talk to them..
If the total diameter of the wheel you put on is much different from the old size wheel it could throw off the camber. That in combination with a not perfect balance job could be the reason.
