Default RSX vs. RSX type S

I know the numbers on both cars and the type S is better that way. I have driven both cars and although I was with my parents when I drove the type S, the base RSX seemed faster to me, at least like it had more torque. It seems like it gets it power much sooner and the only way to get the type S to go fast is to rev it up all the way and then the ride is really loud.
Would that sound better with an exaust on it? Is the type S really worth the money and is there any way to get it to at least a little more low end power?

Thanks

On a sub note. Is anyone worried about the quality of this first generation RSX? Sometimes the first year a car is out it sometimes has problem and I want my new car to last me for a very long time.

Haven't driven both back to back, but it could be possible that since the RSX has a lower redline than the RSX-S, that it's tuned more for low/midrange torque, as opposed to the RSX-S.

If you think the ride is loud on the Type-S when you rev it high, don't get an exhaust. It'll only make things louder. It'll arguably sound better, but it'll definitely be louder too.

Is the Type-S worth the money? That's subjective. An extra 40hp isn't easy or cheap to pick up, and the 6-spd shifter on the S is nice. As for getting more low-end power, that's not really the strength of small-displacement engines. If that's what you're looking for, consider a car with a larger engine.

Man, you have a lot of questions. Well, lastly, as for quality problems, I wouldn't worry much. I bought the 3g teg as soon as it came out, and there haven't been any real major problems. Acura/Honda has a good reputation when it comes to quality, and that reputation is earned.

Hi,

On quality, I wouldn't worry a bit...its a Honda!! I test drove both and found little or no difference under 5500 RPM. The 141 top torque is produced much lkower on RSX ( around 4500) as opposed to typs (arouind 6500). But as far as numbers, there isnt much difference, even around 4500, I think graph shows about 128 for type S. But dont know love to hear the high reving engine?? Sounds absolutely cool to me abd a honda!! Need I say more?
