Default 92 SI Broken Timing Belt---Newbie needs advice

Timing belt snapped on my 92 Prelude Si (Auto) with 150K and caused Damage to the engine...

1)Should i just change the head... or there might be some internal damage...

2) Or should i rebuild the engine( take the head to a machine shop and do a valve job.. engine got 150k on it.. i might need to ring it too...

3) should i get a used engine and replace it..... ( the tranny will still have 150k???? ..should i change it too....)

i called this place.. he said he's got a JDM 2.2 non- vtec that would fit in there... and he's asking $1500 including the installation... would that fit on my tranny...

what kind of JDM prelude 2.2 non-vtec is there... and how are they rated....is that the f22 with 160Hp..???
i'm afraid this could fraud.. could it be an accord 2.2 ...

Do you know any good, cheap places in Atlanta......

what do you guys recommend...

i would take the head in to get new valves and get it cleaned up. then i'd replace the rings and bearings. that way you almost a new engine.

Can you install a head yourself? Can you rebuild a motor? If you can, there are some great machine shops in the ATL area. I just finished rebuilding my h22a4.

If you can't do the work yourself, you would probably be better off buying a jdm motor and paying to have it installed. Paying someone to rebuild a motor is expensive! There are quite a few motor importers in this area as well, so jdm motors are pretty easy to find.

take your old motor and put it on a engine stand and then take the biggest sledge hammer to it.... and put in a full H22 motor and tranny

It just makes sense.....more power......more aftermarket support.....less mileage

Have Anthony (Precision) take a look at it. He will build it for you for a good price. He knows what he is doing.

I am sure he will give you many different options that the dealer won't be able to offer.

I would second that. If you can't do the work yourself, call him.

Your best bet is taking it to a qualified shop where they also do machine work and have it looked at. You've more than likely fucked up your valves and guides but a good shop will tell you exactly whats wrong and how much it will cost to fix.

Do they sell parts as well? I am looking for a good intercooler and would need custom piping done. Thanks.

How much (estimation) would it cost to get an H22 swap and installed (say someone who knows how to do it, but not an expensive shop)?

Just got my 92 w/ H23, and might do one sometime down the line.

i got my jdm h22 from hmotorsonline.com for 1950, and i picked it up so i saved on shipping. I really can't tell ya how much it'd be to put it in, i did that myself. Call around in your area, i'm sure there's somebody who does swaps. as far as difficulty goes, the h22a swap into the 92 si chassis is relatively easy. Drops in just like the 23, change the fuel rail and distributor and wire the vtec and you're good.

This is kind of off topic, but how much would it cost to build a motor to handle a fair amount of boost? My 92 Si has over 160k on it and when it goes I want to have it built and then I want to boost it.
