Striped Threads in Block
I Installed my intermediate shaft the other night to find the last bolt just keept spinning, yea I striped the treads in the block, what would be the easiest method to repair this? thanks and yes I did a search.
Heli-coil is a good option. You just need to slightly drill the hile, and slide in the coil. It will stick and you can use the original bolts.
You could also JB weld it in. (steel glue)
Another option is to get a stud...and JBweld that thing in.
JBWELD EVERYTHING!!! :D

yes that makes me happy I was hoping I could get away with that, dreading having to take it to a machine shop. I'll just have to get a Heli-coil and i'll be set. thanks for the info guys

So you're saying that he should junk his intermediate shaft? hehehe, j/k
I'm in a similar situation myself, where my intermediate shaft bolts are hard to go in. I think that I can still fix my threads if I chase them. About those helicoils though, can those only be ordered online from the helicoil site? or can I find them at my local Kragen or Autozone?

autozone should have them or maybe a lowes or home depot depending on the size and of course the almighty sears does have them but they will cost you at sears, but make sure you get the right size.. you can do it yourself if you get the kit, when you get the kit it will come with a drill bit, tap, and helicoils in three different lengths just pick the right one, and then it pretty self explanitory drill the holle tap it and put the helicoil in it and your done ake sure and break off the the little tabint the back of the heli coil when your done so the bolt will go all the way through it ..its not hard just takes a little time..
