how to switch from OBD1 to OBD2??

I got a 2000 ITR, thinking of switching form OBD2 to OBD1.....What do I have to do?

whats the benefits of this besides making more power with mods? Will a stock R gain anything from this? And last , are there any downsides to this on a 2000 ITR? ie accelerated engine wear!! sorry i'm a newbie to OBDs
