Default Automatic Drive Train Loss

Does anyone know how much whp i would lose to an automatic transmission? 20% 25% 30% 35%

I have a 96 accord which i dropped a H22a JDm spec into. got it dynoed and i ended up with 123 whp!!! after i installed and tuned it with a vafcII i got 128whp and max torque 110. something is wrong!!! The engine is rated at 190hp on the fly wheels. if my baseline is 123whp i am losing something like 38%, either that or the dyno is shitty or the tuning didn't work

Is your car Auto cause if it is then you may have problems in the tranny. Search in the prelude forum for posts containing the same stuff as your question and you should find the answer.

yes it is an auto. had the original tranny replace as i was having some problems with it. i suspect that the shop replaced it with the tranny from a f22. is there a difference between the two trannies?

I am not certain, but I would guess the H22 auto's have a lot shorter gearing than the F22 auto's.

anyone know what the ratios are on these automatic JDM trannies. If you know how to visually tell them apart that would be cool too

pull back the carpet on your passenger side floor. There should be an ECU there. But im curious to know how you got the auto to run in a 96 accord. Did you convert to obd1? Cuz if you did you would be running 2 computers. One for the motor and one for the tranny.

I really don't know. I bought a half cut from a JDM Accord SiR and had the whole engine fitted into my car the whole works engine, harness ecu transmission everything

the h22 tranny does have a shorter gear ratio. I would think that either you have the wrong ecu for the engine or your engine's isn't tunned. check your ecu's first and also check compression. Did you ask the shop who installed it why it was lacking horsepower or did you do he install yourself. Hope you did it yourself because you can never trust these shops now of days.
