Does anyone know how much whp i would lose to an antomatic transmission? 20% 25% 30% 35%

I have a 96 accord which i dropped a H22a JDm spec into. got it dynoed and i ended up with 123 whp!!! after i installed and tuned it with a vafcII i got 128whp and max torque 110. something is wrong!!!

 

the usuall estimate is 20%

it should NOT be any higher than 25%

so you should have 150-160 to the wheels given a good running engine/tranny

 

do a compression and leakdown test.

 

seems like i am losing closer to 38%. could it be the tranny? or the dyno?

I'd bet the engine just isn's making the power it should be. 15-20% loss is average for a honda drive train from what I've seen. Like someone else said already, check compression and do a leak down. Also, what kind of Dyno was it?
