VTI-R VS> TYPE R
hello,
Love hondas got a civic now (first car) and looking to upgrade soon. I am looking at an Integra. I know this may be the wrong place to post but i cant find a more appropiate area. I am just curious because i cant find any performance figures for the VTI-R or the TYPE R whats the big difference between the 2? my goal is to get a turbo set up to produce about 300kw at the wheels which will be better for this. I live in australia so the models may be different so. Can you please help
Thank you

depends on what your goals are... if you aren't planning to go all out, a type-r would be better. otherwise, most of the r goodies would be binned in favour of aftermaket items if you were to make something more interesting.
there is a huge price difference between vti-r's and itrs too... in the region of $10k. which buys a helluva lot of upgrades...

i just snapped it... so erm. hehehehe
apparently i'm the first person it's happened too though.
but in terms of feel, it was good. steering felt a bit heavier, and the car tramlined heaps more, particularly with the semi slicks on. it seemed to marginally improve the steering feel and midcorner grip.
i am buying another one from them though, so i guess that either says i'm stupid, or i liked it enough to put up with the downers

Uhh..... VTI-R is this what the GSR is called over in the land down under? you mean B18C1 Dohc Vtec equipped car right?
I think so.... anyway, most people here say a GSR is a better Candidate for Boost, lower compression and much lower initial cost.
Besides, any Turboed GSR will smoke a stock Type R.
So, I guess it all depends on how you want your car to turn out in the end.
Turbo.............. get a GSR (or VTI-R whatevers)
N/A................. get a TypeR.
Of course there are turboed type Rs and Built N/A GSRs too, but that's just how most people break it down.

Wow, thx for the break down, never knew there's so many names for the gsr. But i think you should just keep your civic, and throw a gsr engine in it, it'll be fun.
i'm betting the vti-r has a power rating of 180hp and the ITR over there is the 200. i'd go vti-r regardless. ITR has nothing special that you wont end up replacing with your power goals, you'll just spend more initially for the car. the ITR does have a certain pimp factor to it.... but i mean, c'mon, the vti-r is sweet. we dont have them here.
i bet his block isn't stamped b18c1... thats a USDM block stamping. the vti-r i bet is stamped plan old b18c or maybe even b18c3 or b18c6 like the new zealand cars.
