just installed sway bars, sometimes it goes "thonk" or "bong" or "thunk"
i just installed my sway bars yesterday. when i make a hard turn or go over a dip/driveway at a slant, it makes these sounds. i dont think bushings can make such a sound, nothign squeeks, just loud noises. its on a 93 del sol si with ST front and rear sways. i have stock exhaust and i tried moving/kicking it back and forth but it doesnt hit anything, i tried pushing down on the suspension really hard making the car bounce up and down briskly but still nothing. it doesnt look to hit anyhting, but its close to my brake cable. i looked to see if anything is out of order and everything seems to be ok, (generic coilovers) the coil is in the hat and never droops (always preloaded) since i extened the shock endpoint. just makes noise when im driving and turning hard or going over dips. anyone know what it could be?
Are you positive it isn't hitting your LCAs? Because even if you push on it, you won't be able to generate the same movement as your 2000+lb car can during turns. My Progress rear anti-sway bar also made clunking noises when turning and going over bumps, and it turned out that the passenger side was hitting the LCA. So check if there are any dents/marks/scratches/etc. in your LCAs and/or sway bar.

That's what I was thinking.

make sure you installed the bar in the right direction. If its not on correct, it will hit the LCA. If not that, then tighten up all your endlinks.
there is plenty of clearance between the lca and the rear sway, but while turning who knows maybe it moves that much. ill drive it around for a couple more days and see if there are any noticeable marks on the sway bar itself (only had it on for 2 days) . as for direction, its just a bar with 2 bends that is co-planar...i hope i got it on right, the part number is till on there and its right side up.
thanks for the input
