Default Dent in Header...could it cause bogging?

I was wondering if a dent on the header could effect the throttle.....it feels as though at times the car tends to bog, like theres severe restriction, but sometimes it feels fine. Im a honda noob, but before I was a mustang owner and felt the same bogging, but it was due to insuffiecienct timing, I believe it was retarded by 11 degrees, mind you the boggin was way more severe than this. BTW its a 96 GSR with a greddy exhuast and DC headers. Thx for the help.

I doubt it could cause bogging, but you are losing power from the dent, definately. Which may feel like bogging as it may be more apparant at certain RPM's.

hrmmm....yea at certain rpms it feels like its having a hard time....would having B16 pistons have anything to do with either, I doubt it though, the installation was done by my friend who is very good with hondas. Yet ironically he cant figure it out either, he says it could be the dent, restriction, or the fuel filter.

hey well at least you spelled it right, most newbs dont get that right, so youre already ahead of the game lol , but on topic, unless the dent basically completely crushed the walls of the header together, i dont see it making it hiccup as you said, i would try the fuel filter maybe as stated before, a clogged or dirty fuel filter can do some pretty wierd things

not much at all, i think the one i got was in the 10 dollar range maybe ??? i cant remember, its the oem one though, it made a definite difference though, i cut the old one open and it was nice and brown , its not hard to do, though there is a right way to do it and a wrong, but faster way, i chose the wrong way, and spilled more gas than i needed to, but it worked lol

Yea its a tune issue i think...i replaced the fuel filter and it still bogs....I found that the motor does ping a lil too at stock timing which I think is 16, correct me if im wrong too...I think it might be the high compression from the b16 pistons.... BTW I had a 98 gt mustang with race heads and valves, rear gears, exhaust the works...it was fast and way trqy, but the lil teggy amazes me that such lil displacement can produce so much horsepower, i mean the lil thing can pull....

any how im gonna try a fuel pressure regulator now and richen it up, if that doesnt work Ill go with dyno, and from wat Ive seen in this fourm it seems everyone likes Hondata, so Ill try that.

Maybe you are running a bit high compression and knocking and your knock sensor is tweaking your timing and screwing it all up. Try backing off about 2 degrees and maybe throwing some more fuel in there. Or switch gas. I don't know if thats the problem though. Have you done a major tune up? That may be in order.
And where do you get a fuel filter for $10?

got the fuel filter from my friend who owns a shop, I believe everything has been tuned up, i dunno about the pcv or pvc thing, i might do that next. I backed off 2 degrees and had timing issues on the response. I upped it to 16.5 +-.2 and its responsive as hell. I think its a fuel issue, so ill try the fuel pressure regulator and riching up the fuel a lil. Eventually i want a hondata or vapc. Anyother advice.....btw thx for all the help, you guys are helping the ex ford/noob out...

where is the dent? at the bottom close to oil pan?....i know some people has a dent for 4-2-1 header at 2piping to 1,,,,,the dent is obviously noticeable but dyno before and dyno again hp didn't change much at all...so...i dont think dent is the problem unless you got a huge dent...other i dont know...

*it could be ur distributor timing off little...ur exhaust piping aint the same size...
*o2 sensor
*radiator defficiency?
*water system wack up
*spark plug fucke dup
*spark wires **** up
*FPR
*fuel system mangement
*blah blah blah

*im just trying to bring up all the possible problem...hope yall dont mind...so take ur time, it ur car,,when it comes to bogging only you know....those are some idea that might help you out....they might not be the case
