Track Report from Road Atlanta
Figured I'd tell you guys about my track weekend in my Accord. No I don't have pics (left digi cam at home
) and no vid, video camera wouldn't fit on my rollbar and see anything good.
Anyways, since my last track weekend I have added Eiback Pro-Kit Springs, ST rear swaybar, prelude/cl 11.2" brakes w/ Carbotech Spec B pads, full exhaust 2.5" from header back w/ removed cat (car isn't driven on the street anymore), autopower rollbar, corbeau seats and 5pnt harnesses. So I wasn't sure what to expect on track. Oh, I already have kyb agx shocks and an intake for those that don't know.
Handleing wise the car was very neutral, didn't really push at all, even stepped the rearend out @ ~70ish mph up turn 1
Brake wise, car stopped A LOT sooner than I expected, I found myself getting on the brakes, then having to get back off them for a sec, then hit them again, before turn in.
Exhaust wise wasn't so good, my instructor did love the sound of my exhaust, he said he was pleasantly surprised by its sound. However, Kamikaze header didn't fare to well. It came apart TWICE while on track, 1st time it came apart, it started to melt my front motor mount, but then I got black flagged because the bottom of my exhaust was hanging down to far. 2nd time it came apart all 2 of the 3 nuts fell off, luckily the 3rd one held it on till the end of the session. That night I went out and bought some new bolts/nuts and put it back together, took my electric impact and hit on them till i thought they were going to break. The reason for it coming apart I believe is because the kamizaze doesn't have the rear mount, so we bought some thin metal wire and used it to support the exhaust right after the header ends, I dunno if thaty contributed to it or not, but the exhaust lasted all day Sunday w/ out any mishaps.
Oh, the seat/harnesses makes track driving much more fun, no more holding on around turns, just sit there and drive
