Question about timing and MSD BTM.
OK, with my kit I'm getting the MSD BTM. Now I have two questions about this.
1) Can I set it to retard only .5deg per pound or is the minimum 1deg per pound. Because at 1 deg. and 9 pounds I be at 7deg timing, which too retarded, right? Wont that **** up my exhaust valves and **** like that?
2) Can I bump up my regular timing to 18 deg now to get better low end, or is that pushing it and just dumb?

set your base timing about 19 degrees and yes u can go as low as .25 retard per pound of boost I used to have one and msd confirmed that.
+19 BTDC is 3 Degrees of Advance on an LS Motor.
Running 3 Degrees of Advance is pushing it on N\A.
I don't think the help in low end would definately be worth it. It all depends on how your tuning your car. Your Base Timing doesn't make much of a difference if your changing your timing maps throughout the rpm range using Hondata, Etc. If your using Piggybacks, I would think about pulling timing, then advancing on the Dyno. You don't want to baseline @ +19 BTDC.

I have a ls motor and my timing is at 19 degrees and i am running 16psi on a drag kit. so what do u think of that.
Also if u had read he is using a msd btm so if his timing is at 19degrees and when boost hit timing is going to pull back anyway to around 14-15 degrees which is safe.

you guys all seem to run alot of timing, my dfi takes out so much on correction you would not believe me if i told you, i could have my car at -30 degrees and the DFI will take out another 15 like a chevy. just gotta run higher boost before major retard is required, when you start to double cylinder pressures at like 10 psi you really need to look at timing retard - this is for people in areas like me good relative humidity, great 94 octane gas with no crap corn by products mixed in and sea level or lower.
