cf has crack. repair / prevent from worsening?
I have a brand new vis carbon fiber hood. today at work some guy came up to my car and smacked it with a pole...
this was right in front of a security guard who chased him away but couldnt catch him. neway, the hood is a week old... and now i have a very small crack in it.
the hood hasnt cracked all the way through. theres just a small area around the size of a quarter that has cracks in it. he hit the fender also, wasnt so lucky with that...
neway. is there any way to patch the small area that is damaged? more importantly, will it spread? what can i do to prevent it from spreading?
plz. i am very greatful for any help.

i couldn't find the crack. I don't what it is about cf hoods getting damaged during the 1st week.
I got mine 2 years ago and 6 days after the install a spark plug blew out of the #1 cyl.
It cracked the hood. Has not spread. it will be fine.

ok... i have a VIS hood as well and mine was cracked over the winter. it started small and is now 6 huge lines all the way accross the hood. it will spread over time from stress.
just rock it out or paint the hood...nuff said.

yea, and you have to watch out for rust. Is the clear coat cracked? if so, moisture will get in there and start rusting it out from the inside.

I do not think that there is any way to repair your hood. If i remember correctly, VIS uses a temperature setting carbon fiber compound. That means that VIS puts the hood in a giant oven and bakes it, which allows the epoxy to set around the carbon weave. sorry bud. WTF is up with someone randomly comming by and hitting your car?? i would throw the security guard off the roof if that happened to me. Clean ED.

As bad as your luck is, the way you wrote it is funny.
Some guy just came out of the blue jumped out with a pole and cracked your hood with it.
Security guard and pole man go on foot chase.
That's some oddball crud right there!

use fiberglass resin and fill the crack. i haven't done this but it would hold the crack, or just get another clear coat on there.
