My friend just got a new CBR600 F4i, he was wondering if people mod there bikes? and if so what are some of the first things that people do with their cbr's?
* Frame sliders - plastic are damn expensive, frame sliders are not
* Full System or a slip on
* Power commander- gotta tune it somehow, might not reap the its full benefit from just an exhaust system... if nothing else, at least it makes the bike run more smooth
* valve/head job, cams, Chain sprocket..

Check out Two Brothers Racing they offer a lot of slips that don't require a remapped fuel system. They are a good place to go if you own a Honda!
2 Bros is junk dont get it. They fall apart like nobodys business. Spend the $$$ and get a Moriwaki or a Micron. The most that 95% of the bike world does is a full system and some frame sliders. Having 100WHP and 400 LBS is fast enough for most. If not got up to a 1000
EDIT: if you want a serious honda tuner its Erion and HRC
\If he is already thinking about moddin, I suggest that he get a bigger bike. Its much easier. And your life is really at stake with modding a bike. With a car you have somewhat of a roll cage, a bike is just you and the ground(which hurts alot!!!)

I second that, Erion and HRC will provide the best performance for the hondas. They have been racing them since the beginning.
On a side note, dont do a K&N filter on the hondas. Erion has done extensive testing with them, and the stock filter flows better than the K&N replacement. (That is unless you are willing to sacrifice a few HP for a cleanable/reusable million mile air filter.)
The most common mods performance:
1. slipon/full pipe. Full is obviously going to gain more if it is a good system
2. airbox/airfilter. Not a good idea with K&N. Many people are removing the resonators in the ramair on the f4i's. (cant say the exact amount of performace gain)
3. ignitiong/fuel mapping. Power commander for f4i (self explanatory)
4. Porting/Polishing on head, cams, titanium valves, valve retainers etc. (Can get expensive, unless you have a hookup at a machine shop)
Frame sliders are a good investment, but are not a miracle worker. There is a local who tipped over backwards on an r1 in a 6th gear wheelie, it prevented his frame from getting damaged, but every piece of plastic including the tank was thrashed. Front master was trashed and ram air snouts were damaged. That was both frame and bar nylon sliders.

Frame sliders protect the FRAME, not plastic. If the frame is scratched bad enough, the bike is totaled.

thanks for all the replies, the first thing he did was get those frame sliders when he bought the bike. But he's not sure about which exhaust to get cause he's heard that the microns are good but their was another name that was big I think it was like hines+vanes or somehting wierd like that. What do you guys think? Is micron the definitive way to go? Or is it just like modding the car where they are almost all the same?

PCII is better. It has both adjustable fuel and timing advance/retardation
PCIII is just a fuel program
PCIIIR is the updated version of the PCII it has both fuel maps and timing advacing/retardation.

A slipon is pretty much a slipon - more for looks and noise than anything else ,but as with most things you get what you pay for : the cheaper cans like V&H generally have a poorer build quality and tend to get ratty with age - not really an issue with most bikes though . Two Brothers used to be THE co. for Hondas but Kevin and Craig had a split and *the brother that races* formed Erion Racing and now TBR is hit or miss with quality and makes parts for the other lesser machines FWIW . Sounds like this is his first bike - he'd be better off buying the best protective kit he can instead of tuning a bike with more go than he can already possibly use
Anyway , if its possible to do with a motor it can be done on a bike - my race motor has : 12.5 82mm JE's , Falicon crank, Crower rods , SS 29mm valves , epoxied heads , an additional cooling line to rear head ( Vtwin motor), external crank bearing mod. 174 X 8 TBR cams , 39mm flatslides etc - pretty much just stock cases .
