98 Accord clutch master cylinder part
I am having a hard time finding the matching replacement clutch master cylinder for my 98 Accord LX 4 cyl. I just learned that the original p/n 46920-S85-A01 is not available. The part I got from a dealer yesterday ends in A02. The difference is that the hydraulic line connector and the reservoir tube connecter are reversed. Does anyone know where I can get an A01 or if I can use the A02 as is or do I need to replace the hydraulic lines as well?
Just get what they sell from the dealer. I got it and it is better than stock. The stock part is made of plastic, while the one from the dealer is made out of metal.
Thanks. I looked at the new part again and realized the hydraulic line inlet is in the same position as the old one. They just moved the resevoir tube inlet from the end of the cylinder to inside the hydraulic inlet. Now I have to bleed it to see if it's fixed. Right now the pedal still stays on the floor.
Yes bleed the system, and let us know how everything turned out.
BTW, why are you replacing the master cylinder? Did it brake bc of an aftermarket clutch?

The car has 120,000 miles on the original clutch. I changed the master cylinder probably unnecessarily. My clutch pedal suddenly stopped returning from the floor. I did a test to eliminate the master cylinder: I pinched off the hose from the reservoir to the master cylinder and the clutch pedal behaved properly which I was told indicated the master cylinder was ok. Therefore, I replaced the slave cylinder. However, I mistakenly assumed that the master cylinder was then bad when the pedal again stayed on the floor but before I bled the system after replacing the slave. I created more problems for myself because the hardest part was seating the hydraulic line in the master cylinder without it leaking. I took it to my mechanic to finish it.
However, the pedal now has an awkward firmness to it. It works now but doesn't push down as smoothly as it had originally. My mechanic said he bled it a lot and speculated that perhaps the pressure plate might be going. I find that hard to believe, especially so suddenly. Is it maybe a matter of more bleeding?
Thanks for your feedback.
