Default first gear won't go in!!!! help~~!!

my friend's 95 delsol is having some problem..
it's got a stock motor (d16z6) and i don't exactly know what happened but he told me that 1st gear wouldn't go in(no free play in neutral), sometimes the shifter don't even wanna move, would it be just the synchros? shift linkage problem?

My first guess is the linkage also. If it's in neutral the shifter should be able to wiggle left and right no matter whats wrong with the inside of the tranny. If it doesn't something is in the way.

When you start the car up is it in nuetral? If yes and shifter doesn't wiggle then you may have something keeping the shifter from moving. If you start it up and the car is in gear then you my friend may have a bad throw out bearing. let me know any more symphtoms.
