just installed a Mugen Intake on the R
i have a 96spec ITR
On friday night, i met with a friend to exhange intakes. i had been wanting a mugen intake for ages, but couldnt afford a new one.
i had a J's Racing intake, and he had the Mugen.
it took a total of 1hour, to rip the intake out of his car and to install the J's Racing.
that included, taking the wheel off, guards, removing the mugen splash gaurd.
taking the intake out was so easy, especially because he had no ABS in his car.
the R, getting ready to recieve its new toy.

just cleaned the intake

only 3 bolts inside the engine bay... the middle bolt is the hardest to screw in. damn the ABS module. installing it took so bloody long... 4hours!!!
i had to make a custom splash guard, because the bodykit guy cut my plastic guard(wheel arc). i didnt want dirt and water to go in the snorkel.

very very tight fit, especially with the JDM-96spec ABS system. i was worried i couldnt get it in because the ABS is bigger than the 98spec.

its a lot harder to install in a ABS equiped ITR, the hard thing is getting the snorkel down to the bottom.

BLinging!!

shiney mugen intake... yum
you can see the spoon leads in the background

Over all, i am pretty happy with the intake.
at high revs, it feels like its revving a bit smoother. probably because the engine is breathing cooler air.
after installing the intake, i can really see why this intake is good. ( its massive!! )
but the main thing is the mAd JDM bling

If you think it was hard to install you should try on a A/C equipped car
Now that is a tight fit. Took me about 4 hours to install mine too.

Well if you had the ABS delete option on your '96 ITR (like I do) then you wouldn't have that problem!!!
Good install tho
I like the new dizzy cover too
, with matching leads too

well his car is RHD. so it wouldnt matter if he have a/c lines since they are on the other side of the engine bay.
now LHD with a/c is a bitch. had to bend my lines up to fit the arc box.

What's the blue box inline with the radiator hose? Looks like it has a coupling mount on top for a probe, but nothing installed.
i had a GReedy water temp sensor in that before, but recently snapped off
USDM ITR's (if equiped with ABS) should have the smaller version.
lucky for me, the AC lines are on the other side of the car.

well it feels faster...
when i change gears from 1st to 2nd... it feels different... its etiher im wheel spinning or my clutch is slipping. hahaha
say for eg, when you change into second, your revs start reving from say.... 6500.
but now, it stays at 7000 for a brief haalf second, then revs up.
