as many of you know i was gonna go the FI route and was trying to swap but im just gonna get an 86 carbed HF ew1 motor my question is
will that bolt up to an 87 auto tranny that comes stock in a civic sedan
86 carbed HF bolt right into and 87 carbed civic automatic tranny
making my combo 86 HF motor with 87 auto civ tranny
ALSO an HF will bolt right in motorwise wouldnt it?
thanks and sorry if this is confusing

Unless I am greatly mistaken, the mounts on 86 and 87 models (except 4wd wagons) are exactly the same regardless if they are carbed, fuel injected, M/T, or A/T. It is only the 88+ cars that have completely different mounts.
The 86 HF engine should bolt up to your 87 auto tranny just fine. If you were using a manual tranny then you would need to use the starter that matches your flywheel, i.e. HF starter with HF flywheel or DX/Si starter with DX/Si flywheel, but your auto flex plate should bolt to your HF crank no problem. It might be best to go thru the wiring and vacuum hose diagrams in the 87 service manual over on the rpr site to see what is different. That will tell you far more than we ever could.
