Default ADVICE: Is this car worth it?

hey H-T, im looking into getting this honda civic. The car is a 98 EX, its has 213000 miles on it, and he is selling it for 3500. Here is the email the current owner has sent to me.

It been in 4 accidents. Most of the accidents was caused by being rear
ended, and most of the repairs were for bodywork. It has never been
totaled.
Here are the current issues with this car:
Has cracked intake manifold
It has a blown gasket
Radiator fan may need to be changed
Needs new clutch
transmission gears need to be checked
cruise control does not work

do you think this car is worth it? he said the price is negotiable, but im not sure how much it will all cost to fix. i figure i could just do a swap with the engine, and that would fix most problems, but how much do you think the cost of fixing the parts will be. And if you think its worth buying, how much do you think i can get him to lower the price for? I dont know, any and every bit of advice will help. thanks.

here are some pictures

four accidents? eek, see if you can get like a grand off of it, save that money and get a d16z6 with a freegin t4 turbo! but yeah make sure if any of the rear end on the frame part isnt bent or anything too bad. well acculy 3 G's would be fine for me. id hella take it. but im all bout hatches. but yeah see if you can talk him down

Tell him the money your trying to save, is going into new engine parts and stuff!

^but thats a lie!!
your just going to swap the whole thing out instead! O:-)

No man I don't think its worth it cause of the cash amount you would have to spend would exceed the asking price and check blue book value and work from there.

you should keep looking around, maybe go for a 92-95 coupe. you could get one with less miles, and problems; plus your money would go further.

yeah the miles alone are an issue, but with 4 accidents tacked on why even bother? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by KREW &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">you should keep looking around, maybe go for a 92-95 coupe. you could get one with less miles, and problems; plus your money would go further.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I bought a 1995 Honda Civic DX sedan. MINT condition interior and exterior. 114k. $2600. That should determine if you should get that car or not.

Most I'd pay for that is $1000.

I got my 94 DX Coupe with 135k miles and dents and dings everywhere for $1600. All it needed was the horn switch replaced. You can do better than that car.

if the body is clean... no dents or dings and the repair bodywork is good (so u cant tell it was hit) i would say offer him 3k.

like u said if u plan on doing a swap that most of that stuff doesnt even matter anyway.

just remember that with 213,000 miles, the engine is not the only thing you are going to have to replace....(suspension parts, brakes, electronics, fuel components....)

i wouldn't get it man, sounds like too much hassle and too much wrong with it, for as much as you have to fix you could use that money to get a whole other car. civics are everywhere. just keep looking man
