hey guys, i just signed up today...i got my type r this winter and got it on the road at the beginning of the summer, i love her, but its just not fast enough...im thinkin about putting a turbo in it after i park it for the winter, im just not sure that i know what im getting into though, anyone have any experience with this kind of stuff?? who makes the best kits? what exactly do i need for electronics with the turbo?? everything possible that anyone knows would be a huge help

Spend a few bucks on a good alarm and enjoy your R stock before you begin thrashing it. If you choose to turbo then search first. The Honda-Tech archives are loaded with tons of knowledge.

Dear God..

 

it does look like alot of red in the pictures, but in the car it is all even and looks real good, i didnt paint it by the way...the previous owner did, i would not have done that to the carbon interior that came with it, i tried to replace everything but couldnt find all the parts so just gave up

I saw that car while searching on Autotrader a while back. I hope you didnt pay what he was wanting for it. If I remember correctly he wanted like $27,000 for it.

Anyway, welcome to Honda-Tech and enjoy your new car.

 

I'm enjoying my greddy turbo so far. What do you plan to use it for, just street, or drag, driving schools, etc?

If you do turbo it don't skimp on engine management. Hondata or Uberdata.

Edit: Search... but spend most of your searching time in the Forced Induction forum. There's more Honda turbo information there than anywhere else in the world. You will need electronics for controlling fuel/timing (Hondata/Uberdata, or possibly E-Manage but I don't like mine.). You'll also probably want a boost controller. Hook up with a reputable tuner in your area.


Edit #2: I've never seen that sub enclosure before, it's pretty f'ing sweet. I wouldn't have done it to my R though... Lose the ricey exterior trim and grille for sure! (My Opinion).

ditch the heavy stereo equipment and im sure your car will be a little quicker. you'll find more info on turbos in the forced induction section.
