my alternator light came on and battery went dead after a couple of hours.

Charged battery drove several hours & same thing.

Typical alternator problem right?

Took alternator to 2 parts stores tested ok. Don't have my dvm here right now so i can not check "on car".

Any suggestions?

 

did you check your battery? maybe its one of the plugs on the back of the alt.......if your battery is good and then your alt test good off the car, but then if the alt test bad on the car its something in between....like wires.
