Default OBD1 P28 ECU - JDM or USDM?

I just bought a P28 OBD1 ECU with OBD2 sockets for my UK ITR, which I need so I can run Hondata. I'm now getting a solid CEL and the car won't even fire up properly, let alone idle.

This ECU looks smaller than the last P28 OBD1 ECU I had, and someone suggested it might be a JDM ECU, rather than a UK/US one - can anyone tell me how I can tell the difference, and whether this would cause a solid CEL?

Would the Hondata map be different for the two ECUs?
