Default Smacked a curb, bent something, help me figure out what.....

So long story short, the other night my alternator belt gave with me on some backroads. I try to drive it to a gas station, but while taking a corner the car dies......and I smack a curb going about 30-35 mph at about a 45 degree angle, with my front right wheel taking all the impact. I get some buds out to help me out and they bring my tool box. We get the belt fixed, drive it slowly to a gas station, and find that the front right wheel now sits about an inch further back in the wheel well, the tire now scrubs, and the car pulls hard to the left.

I thought it was just the radius rod, but I replaced that today and it didn't affect anything..........other than the new one didn't want to let both of the bolts bolt up right.

So what else did I probably bend? I'm hoping it's not the front crossmember.........is there anyway to pull that out straight if it was?

this happened to me about a year ago, only my belt didnt snap, i was just being stupid. in my case i bent the LCA, i bought and installed a new one and that fixed most of the problem but an alignment shop told me that i need a "frame pull" to get it back to where it was before.

Buddy, you need to at least take some pics and post them here so that we have an idea of what is happening... No it sould be a bunch of things depending on how you hit that curb and ****...

Chances are you probably bent the lower control arm, if that doesn't solve the problem, you may have also bent the steering knuckle assembly.
Oh, BTW, you might as well change the wheel bearing because it probably has play due to the impact of the collision

If you need a frame pull, does that mean the front cross memeber is bent? I did the same thing recently, and am in the process of repairing my Lude. I have replaced the radius rod and lower control arm so far, which helped. I would start there.

also, your steering rack, trailing arm, and axle may need some looking into.

yeah there's many components in the front suspension to
just guess at what it is. your best bet is to try to take some pics
if you can of the front suspension. Another thing you could do is just compare
a certain suspension part to the oppisite side and see if it looks the same.

Here's the busted wheel:

Here's the gap in the good fender well:

And here's the gap in the bad fender well:

Here's two shots of the LCA on the bad side:

And two from the good side:

Sorry if the pics suck, they were taken on my camera phone. I can't really see anything wrong w/ the LCA, but I'm prob. gonna replace it anyway to see if that's it. There's only so many things that it could be.....

I'm also curious about what exactly gets bent if the frame needs to be pulled.

Well i got it fixed today.

I replaced the radius rod, and it was tweaked. I replaced the LCA, and it was bent a good bit.
But this did not fix the problem. The car rode better, but it still sat about an ince or so back in the wheel well.

So i then used some ghett engineering and got it fixed.

Just stay away from curbs so you don't have to go through what i've been through...........

..........next stop: a suspension shop for an alignment!

How did you get it fixed then? Is the wheel back in its correct position? Did you end up tweaking the frame?
