Default gauges quite, car won't start! wtf?!?!

alright here is something for the ppl that know a lot! i was driving home tonight and turned into my housing development, and i down shifted into 4th( going around the turn) and was just cruising not giving it gas). i then noticed that together both rpm and speedometer were diving to 0 and then back to what was really happening and then back to 0 until they stayed at 0. all lights r still light and car is rolling fine, but not reading at all. so then i park my car turn off my headlights and rpm read 1,000. which is what it should read. i turn my lights on again and it goes back to 0 w/ car still running. so then i say WTF and turn my car off. then i thought hey y not see if it fixed itself and start the car back up. i tried starting it back up and all it did was try and kick over and make a sound like when my starter was bad. i just replaced my starter w/ a used one that worked fine a month ago so i don't think it is the starter. also my ecu was saying i have a bad 02 sensor and i never changed and the light doesn't come on. could this be a bad ecu? cause so far electrical **** is going wrong and i get shity gas mileage too. my car needs help and i dont know where to start! any help thanx! oh i have a jdm h22a w/ p13 ecu.

i was having this same problem. except I was moving straight when my needles dropped to zero. Then whenever i would turn on my bright lights, my radio would go off and the car acted like it was going to die. WTF...but the i figured out that my battery had came disconnected and all that was juicing the car was my alt...and it couldnt run it all. I fixed the battery connection and it was fine. Maybe yours is related to the altenator?

the reason the starter made that noise is there wasn't enough power in the bat. to turn it over

Yup, check your alternator.

Start with the alternator and charging system then move on to checking your grounds on your chassis etc.

At work this week I replaced the front suspension, and then did an alignment on a Tahoe that was in a wreck for the body shop. A co-worker did the A/C system, and when it came time to put the dash back in and crank everything up, we had some serious wiring gremlins. The only time the radio was on was when the left blinker was on and so-on and so-forth. It's going to take some serious diagnostics to track this one down.
