So they're basically coilovers?

No, they are not coilovers.

There are many different things you could get but it all comes down to the same thing...4 shocks (or struts or dampers...whatever you want to call them) and 4 springs.

You can get shocks and a coilover sleeve kit like the Ground Controls that slip over the shock.

Or you can get something like Tein basics which are a shock/coilover combo.

Can you recommend any good springs/struts at a reasonable value?

Yea...buy my brand new Tein SS for $800 shipped .

If you're looking for something cheaper, just look for something used in the classifieds.

Tokico, KYB, Koni, H&R, Neuspeed, Ground Control, ect all make decent products.

I was thinking under $100 bux. This is a b-day present from my mom to me. Don't wanna go all out on my junker anyway, just wanna have a smoother ride than what I got.

Good luck finding shocks and springs that ride well for $100. You'll have to look for a while. I found some H&R springs for $50 and new Tokico Blue shocks for $180. That's about the cheapest you'll find for a smooth riding setup.
