atts
im thinking of getting a 5th gen prelude and i'm not sure if i should go with the sh or not. the only reall questions i have is has anyone ever had problems with the atts. is it reliable, any maintenance, big difference in handling? any help would be appreciated.
If you plan to boost your car, I do not suggest you get the SH. The ATTS unit flops out when you are <250 whp. It then becomes a useless ~80lbs. It really depends what you are going to use the car for. It helps in auto-x. I would prefer getting a base and putting a Quaife LSD in it though. Maintenace is not that much, you'll have to replace the fluid with Honda ATF every so often (forgot exact mileage). Replacing the clutch/flywheel on a SH is more time consuming though, because the ATTS unit gets in the way.
I suggest the base.

****, if you plan on doing anything fun dont get an SH unless you are going to keep it stock.
just a damn oil and filter change is a nightmare. i should take a picture of where the filter is just to show my dismay.

Dude, it's not that bad.
...but like suggested, what are you going to do with it?
If you are wanting a street car that you plan on street racing / boosting / drag racing (why don't you just get a Mustang or Camaro, instead...you'll be better off and richer in the long run), I would get the base model.
If you are looking at tracking or AutoXing the car, I would suggest the SH. I have been very happy with mine. It's nice having a FWD that has power out of the corners...more forgiving.
If you want to drop some change into a race car / track car...I would get the base and put in an LSD. Then you don't have to worry about compensating for the ATTS, later on down the mod road.

I love my SH. It handles great and is a lot of fun where I live (lots of curvy roads). Like the others said, if you're going the boost or heavy mod route, you might be wise to get a base model.
By the way, I kind of like the location of the oil filter on the SH. It's always been an easy change for me and beats laying on my back being burned by splashing oil. I guess if I would wait for the engine to cool down that wouldn't be a problem
