Default B16a-si VS. B18B LS

I'm getting a 98 civic hatch pretty soon and looking forward to doing a swap and boost. And I've been debating on which motor would be best for boost the b16a si motor or the b18b ls motor? I'm looking for about 7-10 PSI on stock internals tune hondata.

My budget is $4000 and since the 2 motors are around 2500 installed. I have 1500 for turbo. Should a custom turbo kit be within that range or should i just save up some more money.

Too many debates on this...torque vs vtec. Both will make similar power. B16 will be a little harder to tune due to vtec but of course more hp. B18 a bit easier to to tune and more torque less hp. It's all personal opinion. Honestly, dont listen to me or anyone else on this forum...its what you want and can afford. Trust me..we can go on for days and days on b16 vs ls. You will hear all about how vtec is stupid from people driving b18b motors....and all about how you take a b18b motor and put a b16 head on it and suddenly you have 25 hp so how is it gay...from the b16 owners. When it all comes down to it...get the cheaper motor and a better turbo because that is going to be the real difference...for a street car of course.

Also the CR of the b16 will make it a bit harder to tune.. And you can push around 300whp on stock internals on a b16 if it is tuned well. I saw a video once where this turbo integra was going down the street and when he hit vtec his tires started to spin thats what Im hoping to go for

LOL my tires spin near the end of 2nd and 3rd...and i've got heavy *** 17's on my turbo'd LS. so you really don't need vtec to make skid marks...

but to answer the question originally posted...it all comes down to what you want and can afford. either setup if properlly done can make monsterous power. if you do however decide to go LS...be sure to look for a smaller geared tranny. just my $.02
