Default whats the difference? [guage clusters]

can anyone tell me whats different about these clusters? i got these both today because they had the tach, and mine dont (90 dx hatch)

ones out of a 90 sedan (blue-ish wire on back) and one from a 90 wagon. both 5spds.

one has a box amd a extra light (cruise) and one does not, maybe it fell off when i was removing it?

with both work in my hatch? thanks

it looks like they are the same except for the color and the box that's only connected with a plug...I'd unplug that box and try em both. I have a an 88 gauge cluster here and matched it with the picture on the left (90 wagon)...and they're quite the same too.

The blue wire and the box are part of the Cruise Control system.

It won't affect anything at all. I've got the same cluster in my car....absolutely perfect.

Don't rip it off whatever you do, it's not going to hurt a dang thing!

Are you sure the Sedan/Wagon clusters are the same as the HB's? Fitment wise, I mean.

I was under the impression that they're slightly different.

I have two gauge clusters out of a 90 si and a 90 hf and they both have that box, neither one had cruise control. I thought it had to do with the vss.

they are both the same

as u can see the one on the right is missing the box part
u can still see that the bulb is missing and that the actual plastic legs that hold that box on the cluster are there also

my 90 Civic has it, and all the other 89 Si cluster and 91 clusters i have seen, all have them

just swap the box to whoever cluster u want to use

For cruise control...that's what the blue female plug on the box is for.

90 Sedan with a 5 speed?
Go back to that junk yard and see if it has a D16A6 then grab the front knuckles!
I think you found an EX sedan!
Unless they made an LX with a 5 speed... I don't think they did though.

LX 5 speeds are very common. The tachs have the same indicated redline as the EX/Si cars.

That's all I ever see in the junkyard [LX 5 speeds]

i swapped clusters in my EF and my old one had the box and my new one doesnt i just left the blue clip out and it works fine

also the box isnt for vss the vehicle speed sensor is the thick black wire that plugs directly into the back of the speedo

my DX hatchback didnt come with cruise control, AC, or any option that i can think of (besides tilt wheel), but the factory cluster had that box. I also have the plug that goes in it.
