Default GS-R Vtec?

i search and came up with thise quote

"at around 5800 i can hear the secondaries. i just dont hear anything at 4400. im going to test some things today and see what i come up with."

does that mean vtec is already in when its 4400 and gets louder at 5800?

i though GSR vtec kicks in at 4800 but when in my car i cant hear the roaring of vtec till i pass 5800 is there somthing with my ECU or engine?

On a stock car it is hard to hear. However with an intake the sound will be louder. I can hear the switch at 4400 RPM (VTEC) but the noise most people hear are the secondaris which open at 5800rpm

Im not sure about the exact RPM but i do know that the cam switch is first and the secondaries are second

Tommy you n00b

GSR VTEC kicks in at 4400 RPM and the secondary butterflies open at 5600 RPM.
With an intake, the VTEC crossover is noticeable but gets much more noticeable when secondaries open up

Its amazing how many people dont know much about what they drive. Blows me away.

4400 - Vtec
5750 (according to Helms) - Secondary Butterflies (NOT VTEC, not a second stage of VTEC, nothing like that)

you dont need to get an IM to hear it, i heard it just fine with an aftermarket intake, and even better with my exhaust setup.

vtec= 4400rpm
secondaries= 5800

vtec is easily heard in 3rd gear make sure your car is at normal op temp and floor it. if it still doesnt engage 1sy check you oil level then check your vtec solenoid (sp)

you do at some points, like low end, because that's what the secondaries are made for (a stronger low end), and the rest of the engine is tuned for that.

well u gotta admit . if you like a car and find a good deal on one you get it and as u own it you learn more and more about it.. no one researchs and knows everything about a car before they but it.. unless its someone who has been working with cars for a long time and is old and finally buying lets say a type r or somthing

its just the sheer number of people who have so many different answers that they are sure about (or unsure, but still...)

I don't know very many people that could here vtec with thier stock GSRs. The sound comes from the exhaust not the intake. You can here it outside the car. As for the butterflys. That is through the intake appearantly.

i got a skunk2 intake manifold...so that means i don't got secondary....but vtec don't break loud to me for some reason....i felt it break harder with a p28 chipped....but with my upgrades i expected it to break harder...so if i got a skunk2 manifold....it should just break loud from 4400 all the way up to redline right?

you do not have secondaries! and if you really wanna make use of that im buy some cams. then you will deffinately hear vtec and will make more power also.

with a skunk2 im and ctr cams, my vtec crossover was very noticeable!

before I rebuilt my engine with low compression and such all I had was exhaust cam gears and intake and header and we adjusted the timing a bit and you could hear the cross over easily during vtec totally different exhaust note much higher!
