good to know, 'cause trying to hold your breath while wrestling with the suspension isn't effective for more than about 2 minutes

you still shouldnt breathe in brake dust. it has metalic dust which is also very bad for your lungs. you shouldnt treat it any diffrent than asbestos.

soak the brake components in brake parts cleaner so the dust setlles and doesnt get very airborne.

I heard the law that banned asbestos was revoked, but most manufacturers still dont use it. Still, you think that working on brakes is the only time you can be exposed? Nope. Standing at an intersection waiting to cross is enough to get you exposed.

standing at an intersection ?

im talking about dust that you can actually see in your face. dust that when you smack a rotor or drum it goes everywhere.

dust that is piled up.

not intersection dust.

as far as i was told they stopped using pads including asbestos.

theyre now made with organic and semi-metallic materials.

Even hitting a brake drum with a hammer can release over a million asbestos fibers. Because of this problem, many garages are turning to new methods of cleaning brakes. However, some of these methods may still cause harm. For example, wiping with a wet rag or brush or using squirt bottles or solvent spray may only provide temporary solutions; asbestos may still be scattered around the garage once the surface dries. </TD></TR></TABLE>
