As crxgator said, get your general maintenance caught up, change all your fluilds etc, get your suspension and brakes in great working order or upgraded. The mileage isn't that bad, but you didn't say if it smoked, leaked or didn't run well.

Once you do all those upgrades mentioned, then when you do get your engine swap and begin to do the performance upgrades, the rest of the car will be able to better compliment your performance upgrades. There's no point in having a great engine if you can't stop or can't use its power because the suspension is crap. Start from the bottom up, you'll be happier and will have waisted less money in the long run.

you wont need a new engine till you start having real problems. i have 218xxx and still running strong. get your brakes and yes suspention is very good to have.

Like he said suspension and brakes! Put it this way get some nice wide wheels and tires, good suspension and do a brake upgrade(just did one today on my rex good god stops like a porsche! ) then when you get ate up by that 4.6 mustang he can run his mouth but your reply will be.... " You won! the funny part is you can only beat me in a straight line!" then wink at his GF and drive off.

Suspension & MPFI Conversion. (will make life easier if you plan on swapping later on down the road).. If not, Mini Me, I/H/E, Cam.. the possibilities are endless.

a motor swapp is the last thing that should be on your plate. i'm sick and tired of seeing half done crx's go for sale for way more than they are worth because some nut thought to put a huge motor in it and didn't take into account all the costs. if your going to do a swapp, make sure you have double what you think you need just in case stuff happens. As long as you take care of her, the motor should have no problem going 250, even 300 thousand miles. Also, if you swapp and have a bunch of power, but can't controll it, your setting yourself up for disaster. suspension is the first thing you should be considering after general maintanance. think agx (cheap and quality) and maybe some sportlines. both cheap and way good enough for crx performance.
