d16a swap help!
I searched and cant find any info on swapping a jdm d16a into my 88 dx civic hatch. I dont know much about the d16a, except that the distributor wiring is different. Is there anywhere I can go to get this info. I swapped a d16a6 into my crx hf a few months back and that was no problem, but it was a closer match.
the D16A is OBD1 SOHC VTEC and is basically the same as swapping in a D16Z6 - should be able to find plenty of info on the Z6 swap into EF

the D16A is NOT OBD1
, SOHC
or VTEC
. It is an obd0 engine, dohc non-vtec, very similar to the dohc ZC.
EDIT: sorry, seems there is a SOHC D16A as well

hate to burst your bubble, but you should check into things before you post a stupid reply - the JDM D16A is OBD1 SOHC VTEC - there is one in our shop at this very moment

Here's another bubble...
my ride is a 1989 ED7
my engine is a NON-VTEC, NON-SOHC, DOHC 1.6 16v engine..., 130hp
the name is D16A9
it's known in the states as "ZC"
it's made for the japanese and european domestic markets only
and you guys have to import it to see it
D16A6 is SOHC, VTEC, 125hp
amongst other models, you can find it in the 92-95 ESI Civic
so before telling people they're ignorant or stupid...
try checking your data/sources - the american market IS NOT the only market in the world..

Hey Sampsonite987, which D16A do you have? The sohc vtec obd1 engine, or the dohc non-vtec obd0 engine? It's kinda hard to give you advice until we know that.

the sohc vtec 125 hp is the d16z6

Your reading comprehension sucks. The thread starter says in the very first sentence "jdm d16a" so it's obviously not USDM. Please read at least the first post before you comment.

Sorry for any confusion. It is a jdm d16a sohc v-tec. The fuse box under the hood is not the same as my 90 crx, it looks like the fuse box out of an obd-1 civic. I am just not sure where or how to start wiring it. Thanks for the reply's guys.
damn all this ZC **** really pisses me off. why doesnt everyone just call an engine what it is. sohc non vtec or dohc non vtec or sohc vtec. all those are called ZC's. in my opinion the only engine that should be called a ZC is the dual cam non vtec. i know someones 1.5 liter non vtec sohc block might say its a ZC but calling it that will only cause confusion. damn ZC's
now for the question. i swapped a d16z6 into my car also. first are you going to run it obd1 or obd0. what ecu? if its obd1 u need to get a obd1 distributor and rewire it to ur old plug so all the colors match. (i think its a little different for obd1, should be a write up somewhere) dont use the obd1 fuse box. use the existing harness from your hatchback and add necessary wires. (vtec and dizzy if its a DX)
