F20 vs. h22??
Hey, I've been researching the H22 for awhile, and I thought I was set on getting
one, UNTIL, several days ago, I ran into some inforomation about the JDM SiR
Accord, running the F20. I've got the 2.2L SOHC non-VTEC and a 5-speed in my '97 Accord.
Will the F20 fit in my accord and match to my tranny, axils, etc.. or is not worth it
and get the bigger h22, that has got more aftermarket parts and service for it?
Peace.

Accord SIR have F20Bx wich rotates the same way as H22. .
it is a 2.0l DOHC vtec that is between 160 and 200PS at 7200rpm ..
SIR are only automatics..SIR-T are manuals (96-97)
better rod/stroke ratio ..but less torque than the H22a
the only problem is that lack of support from all manuf..though Mugen had done research on that enigne ( accord 96-97 SIR SIR-t F20B2 )but they never released anything for it ( knowing that honda was working on the new engines that we see now .. Ivtec 2.0 l that can easily go up to 240 HP if tunned properly )
one of the problem for that swap is the lack of power steering pump braket and holes to bolt it..
even though an h22a braket could be fit..
cause al the SIR-SIR-T accord in JDM land have electric power steering.wich is only avaible in RH drive unfortunatly ( or i would already have it in my lude
ahha )
neway..just search for a good H22 wich is cheaper, has more supoprt from the industry and power steering brackets

Just here to echo the statements of the above gentleman. He is absolutely correct. The F20B is an excellent motor, but here in America it just does not have the peotential that the H22 has. You will spend a lot more money, and have less power. To make light of the domestic arguement over imports, their is no replacement for displacement.

the SIR-T had the f20b
and the SIR had the H22
and you could get the SIR-T in auto
can someone clarify angular directional rotation of the F20b
we all know the F20C which way it goes
methinks honda had all f-series DOHC's rotate clockwise
all others counterclockwise

The F20b is essentially an H22 with less displacement, it does not spin a 'different' way than the H22. Interesting note Apexi's drag integra has an H22 that spins in the opposite direction than the factory H22 does, i do not remember the benefit of making it spin in the opposite way.
The f20c is totally different than the f20b apparently. EX: you cant put F20c cams into an F20b head in the same way you cant put f20c cams into an H22, but u can put f20b cams into a H22, there is no benefit, but they have the same cylinder head.
