Default just got back from the track (for the first time EVER)

i went to the track last night and im pretty happy with what ive built.

SETUP:

89 crx hf
90 b18a1
92-93 ys1 gsr tranny
itr flywheel
CAI with K&N filter
DC 4-2-1 header
hi-flow cat
pee-shooter stock exhaust
shitty no-traction low-profiles on 5 spoke 15s.

image is too big but i dont know how to resize...

first run:

R/T .908
60 2.426
330 6.527
1/8 9.944
mph 73.00
1000 12.905
1/4 15.420
mph 89.47

second run:

R/T .932
60 2.297
330 6.398
1/8 9.817
mph 71.05
1000 12.7
1/4 15.291
mph 90.18

mind you this is the first time i've EVER driven at the track before and ive only been driving a 5spd for about a month...i'm really happy with my times!

any suggestions/comments welcomed.

oh and im hopin to duck into the 14s with an exhaust and stickier tires...

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????

first time I raced my STOCK crx si (1/8) I ran almost a 10 flat, I think you may want to let your car wind out a little more before you shift

Well the earlier b18a's only had like 130 HP or something weak like that.

He's probably only pushing 115 WHP, maybe a little less.

His times don't seem that bad for that amount of HP.

next time disconnect the exhaust right off the header. Not bad for your first time, I ran a 14.7 in my ZC with the same mods.

It prolly got nasty wheelspin, broke something before the 1/8 mark, and coasted the rest of the way

Nice time considering it was your first time out. The first time i went to the track with a b18a i ran a 9.9. After a month or so i was running consistent 9.3's and 9.4's. So IMO practice is the best way to bring down the et's. But definately good times . Glad to see that more people are rocking the b18a. I wish i coulda gotten a clean run when it was boosted...i burnt the rings on my first run...but i still ran a 9.3@80mph with 2 and 1/2 cylinders and 6psi so i wasnt too pissed. Now im back to NA with i/h/e, skunk2 IM, and exospeed LS909 cams and i cant wait to get to the track. D@mn im hijacking your thread. Good times with the LS...non vtec powa baby

its good to hear im gonna be able to duck into 14s. sorry to hear about the burnt rings on boost. howd you burn the rings anyways? too much boost? overheating? lack of oil?

right now im stuck on wanting a vtec head or boosting? i know vtec can be much more reliable but the power from boost is sooooo hard to overlook. any opinions?

I burnt the rings because my crappy *** fuel controller took a **** on me. But if i were you id go turbo. You are right in the fact that vtec engines are reliable...but LS/Vtec engines really arent anymore reliable than a boosted LS. Or if you wanted to stay all motor you could get a thinner headgasket, some nice beefy cams, skunk2 IM, ignition and fuel upgrade and tune that bitch. I guarantee that youll jaw will hit the floor when you feel what a properly built all motor LS will do

very nice man , my first time at the track i ran a 14.9, went back a few weeks later and bettered that 14.9 with a 14.7. Right now i my setup is a 88 hf, with a b18b a 88-91 S-1 tranny, dc 4-2-1 header, custom exhaust, and cold air intake on street tires.

alot of people talk up the turbo aspect but you dont hear alot about the n/a setups. i think im starting to lean towards all motor (not going to mechanical lifters but...) and maybe duck into the thirteens with some aggressive cams, intake mani, tb, and the ignition and fuel upgrades.

buttttt....
turbo is such a tease...
