I just got an oil change with a new type of filter that I've never tried, and it feels like I don't have as good of a takeoff off. Should I be alarmed and think that the stupid mechanic didn't put the right size on or didn't put it on properly (and there's loss of pressure) or does it do that sometimes when you go with a different bigger filter (providing less case pressure). Maybe things will be back to normal after driving a bit? I'm thinking I'll do my oil changes for now on, but it's such a damn pain.

I don't know about that; you get a feel for how much power your car has.

did u use the same oil? in honda's 5W30 is recommended and a magazine had actually found that using 10W30 as opposed to 5W30 results in a 5hp power loss.
cheap oil may also be a factor. When i used to get those $10 oil changes, my car always had felt weaker afterwards. Today, I went to Jackson Racing for an oil change and used Valvoline Synthetic 10W30(i wanted 5W30) but when i jumped in my car it felt smoother and more powerful and more responsive.
Yeah i know some of you may be thinking that I can't change my own oil... you are right! I can't crawl underneath my lowered car to change my oil and I unfortunately dont have the ramps to get my car up high enough NOR do i have a jack that will hold.
Anyways, there are the possibilities as to why or how you'd lose power with an oil change.
