Default 2000 Honda Civic Si rear sway bar end links - PITA!

Hey guys I was trying to install my Comptech rear sway bar. Got to the end links, insert a hex key into the bolt and used a 14mm wrench to get the self locking bolt off. Got the bolt almost off, but I think I rounded out the inside of the hex bolt. I've got about 1-2mm of thread left to go! I tried hammering the hex key into the bolt.

Is there something else you guy recommend to get this darned bolt off?

I left them on the stock swaybar, and broke off the LCA end. Those things are a big fat pain in the ***.

When I had that sort of a problem I believe I vicegripped the end link area and just un did it that way!

~$50 new from Honda for those endlinks (a piece!)

So be careful with them, or destroy them and have an excuse to buy some nice heimjoints.

Locate a star bit that will fit in the hole. They're often good for gripping the screw after the flat sides have worn off.

Well I did the vice grip thing. I cannot believe I didn't have a pair of vice grips in my tool box. I did end up destroying the end links, but my friends work at Honda

So the bar is on and have it on the middle setting for daily driving. Haven't able to try it out since the hurricane is passing through

A few New England winters + removing stock endlinks = HA!!!

After much swearing, the only way I got mine off was with a cutting disc on my Dremel. My ST Speetech setup came w/ some nice beefy new ones, so I didn't have to care.

Otherwise, I'd say ebay or new from the dealer.

Good luck.

*edit* just read your last post. Congrats on the install
