Default for resale whats better? JDM or OEM

Ok I was planning on selling my gsr becuase i cant afford my insurance ($500 a month) then a couple days ago I get into my first accident ever and now my front end is wrecked (hood, bumper, radiator support, radiator) my oem fenders were not damaged and i dont know which way would be better for resale value becuase as soon as the car is fixed im selling it, but JDM front or OEM front. Also how much the difference in prices between the two. So what does everyone think for resale value JDM or OEM its a 2000 GSR dark violet.

well, i had pretty much the same, if not less damage to my old civic. it ended up costing just under 2,500 to get it fixed. i'd think a JDM front end would probably get a higher resale value with people on this site. so i guess its really up to you cause it would probably cost about as much for both.

BTW, how does your insurrance cost $500 a month for a 94??

the jdm front is going to be way costly to have installed over the OEM US one.

Why?

you need entire frontend parts, I mean, Hood, Fenders, Bumper, Radiator support, bumper supports, headlights. Not to mention installation and paint is not going to be cheap, you even need to have your A/C sucked out and recharged, (unless you don't replace the entire RAD support) you will also need to rewire your headlights, low beams will work, but City lights, Highbeams, Foglights and Side markers will all need to be re-wired.

If you buy everything new, you are looking upwards to 2500+ for all the parts tack on the cost of Installation, paint and labor, 1000+ more.

Yeah sure, the resale value of your car will be higher with the JDM front on, but do you think it will be high enough to cover the additional costs over the OEM one?

IMHO, if you're not going to keep the car, why go thru all the headache to install a JDM front on it? If you are going to keep the car then by all means DO IT! the JDM front looks awesome.

Thing is, if you are hoping to install the JDM front on it, then sell it to turn a better profit on the car, you're going to have to precisely calculate everything so that you don't get any suprises in the end, and after doing so, if you can still turn a better profit than with the US front on, By All Means Do it.

hmm yea im kind of thinking oem will be cheaper in the end. how much do you guys think damage like this will be for new hood, bumper, radiator support, radiator and headlights. i got lucky my air bags didnt deploy cause i went underneath the car so it pushed the censors down and they didnt go off. ( i went under a 2003 accord.......) also i pay 500$ a month cause i was financing the car so i had full coverage and the car is a 2000 not a 94 but im still gettin raped by insurance.

500 a month? Holy Shift that's way to much for any car. Well maybe a R34 Skyline. I only pay 287 a month for my 04 Ram Hemi, 95 LS Integra, 03 CBR954RR, and thats with full coverage on each. I guess I got lucky having my dad in Air Force, I have USAA insurance and it's great. Good luck on selling your car. Also just replace with OEM or aftermarket USDM parts, cause your selling it.

Dom,
Yoo have to replace the radiator support, headlights, hood and fenders anyway. Soo . .If you compare all those parts (USDM OEM) to all OEM JDM parts, the JDM parts shouldn't be that much more. And installation and painting should be around the same price.

id say the cost of replacing your front with new OEM vs used JDM should be similar..i dont think the resale value will increase that much with the JDM front unless the person buying is specifically looking for the JDM front. it also limits who will buy your car since most ppl will be looking for usdm front. if i were in your shoes and insurance was paying then id be all over the JDM front.

i have the same insurance. my dad's retired airforce, so i probably dont get as good of deals as you, plus i have 3 big tickets. its about 200 a month for my 98 GSR. they're probably one of the best insurance companies out there.

I basically did the same with my car I got in accident and went under a new ford focus and I messed up the hood, bumper, lights, rad support. If you look part for part usdm and jdm are about the same price. I went with the JDM front and be careful where you get it from because the place I got mine from send me f*cked up fenders and is not wanting to give me new ones or my money back for the fenders.

Would you like to share where you got it from then?

And its definately easy to go under any car in an integra when at full braking. The whole car just leans forward and gets even lower in the front than it already is and just wedges under whatever you hit.

Just yesterday I got in an accident with my car and the front end was damaged, the hood was creased slightly in the passenger corner, the passenger headlight was pushed in, my type r lip is scratched, my bumper is cracked , and passenger fender bent in pretty bad.

When I took it in to get it estimated, they quoted me $4,000! This is all oem parts and on a 2000 gsr....so I don't know if your car will cost this much to repair, but if it is, this would justify going jdm front end.

My vote is on the US OEM.

$500 a month I pay that in a year.
