Default Brake problems!

Ok this one is weird.

The pads are in good shape just checked them. My rotors should be fine. And here is the problem.

ONLY when I am about to come to a stop and am putting meduin pressure or hard pressure on the brakes is when this happends. When I get to aproximatly 3 mph my brake pedal will sudenly pop out a little and you can hear a grinding noise in the front brakes.

Its really weird because it shudders the pedal pretty hard and it scared the **** out of me the 1st time it happened.

I checked my fluid and it is on the low side but not out of limits, and I also did a visual inspection and cant see anything wrong.

ANY TAKERS?????????

Sounds to me like your ABS is coming on. If you are not sure what ABS feels like go out (in a safe place) and slam on your brakes. See if that's the same feeling because it sounds to me like that's what it is.

yeah but what about the grinding in the front???? I have hit the abs before and I know how the pedal feels. The scary thing is it only does it right before I stop and it grinds like a son on a bitch.

I'd pull the pads and make sure all the hardware is in its proper place.

you might need to just bleed your brake lines...or something might have fallen out of place....the fact that this is only happening in the from might siggest a problem with the master cylinder. i've seen on some cars that there are 2 reservoirs to place brake fluid and one of them is on top on the master cylinder. that one might be low on fluid..

i would take your calipers off and check the sliders on the calipers, only thing i can guess is some how the sliders are overly worn or something feel out and ar that certian speed the caliper will tip or not slide correctly and that is the resulting grinding,

also if you have abs, pull the abs fuse to eliminate that.

another even lazier way to disable the ABS is to pull the emergency brake just enough to get the brake light on the dash and drive aound for about 30 seconds and then the ABS light will come on and the ABS will shut off. Reset the ignition to get it woking again. Cool little trick.
