NEED HELP ASAP ON KUMHO TIRES, V OR Z SPEED RATING!?!?
I need to know what speed rating i need to get on the Kumho Escta Supra 712's? V or Z speed rating? discount tire said they only had the V rating. What should I do?
What should I do?
nah, seriously though, speed rating doesn't matter much. i've had the 712's... didn't really like them at all. running azenis now. not enough mileage for an opinion though...
The Falkens are backordered to hell; I can't get them from anywhere!
Unless you guys know of someone....
Otherwise, what tires would you suggest then? I need something soon, my RE010's are wasted.

ratings don't matter especially between V and Z.
i say get azenis... i also have the 712s and don't like them.... but still ok for all year tires in Cali.

Once again, THE AZENIS ARE BACKORDERED GUYS!
Unless someone can tell me where someone has them in stock, the Azenis are out.

To answer your question...
Unless you are running 19's.... the choices are V and W
The 205/50WR15 86W SL 280 AA A has a lower t.w. rating than the 205/55VR15 88V SL 340 AA A
So... I would pick the W tire

FYI - when I ordered W-rated Ecsta 712's from the tirerack, they actually sent me Z-rated 712's. They say the labels are the same. Weird, eh?
btw, I like my 712's for my commuteR. Surely does a good job in the rain.

STAY AWAY from the 712.... Cheap tires... Cheap performance! That's all you'll get! I bought a set, and I really don't like them!
They look good that's all...

OK guys- here's the scoop:
A Z rated tire is for sustained speeds above 149 mph. W is a subclassification of Z up to 168 mph, as is the Y rating, up to 186 mph. See the chart: (sorry for the formatting mess, read left to right) - courtesy http://www.tiresafety.com/size_class/size_nav2a.htm
