Oh Canada!
Hope it's okay to announce this here, but just wanted to let our Canadian friends know that a Canadian version of Grassroots Motorsports will debut for November. Seriously: http://www.grmcanada.com/
Actually, all current Canadian subscribers will automatically get the Canadian edition. But don't worry, as you won't miss anything as the Canadian version will be more of an added "supplement" to the regular GRM--news, events and stuff that's by Canadians for Canadians. So, in fact, you'll get more pages each issue than everyone else. The cover art may be a little different, though. (No one tells me nothing.)

Well, Strange Brew has always been one of my favorite movies. This deal is actually pretty cool, because we have some good friends up in Canada--now we can give them more assignments and justify more stories on cool cars from up there. (Like the Canadian Nova that runs in the Targa Newfoundland.) Plus J.G., our art director, is half-Canadian, so he can translate for us.

After years of buying on the newsstand, I finally subscribed on Saturday at Mosport (at the GRM booth). First time in my life I subscribe to a magazine, as it was hardly ever worthwhile for Canadians to subscribe to American magazines price-wise.
That's excellent! GRM is already the best magazine out there (for cars) by a long shot, this will just make it better!
how much extra canadian content are we looking at?

Good question. Initially somewhere between 16 and 32 pages, but I'll know for sure very soon. (Like maybe even later today.) It will be a number divisible by 8, however, as we print in 8-page signatures. (That is why you'll never see an issue of GRM with an odd number of pages.)

Hello David,
Welcome to the Great White North! Just don't forget British Columbia is also part of Canada and were are hoping to see you out here some time.

What's a British Columbia? No, we know you. (In fact, I believe we did a story on a CRX from there a little while back.) I just spoke to our Canadian group, and they sound pretty psyched and definitely want to include coast to coast action.
It sounds like the Canadian scene is a bit fragmented, so if your club or group would like some ink, I'd say drop the Canadian crew a note.

To say the least. As someone in the motorsports industry, I ship to Canada quite a bit. We send pad to the east (Toronto/Montreal) or the west (Vancouver), but never in between. Never. Why is that, eh?

Because there is nothing in between! j/k
Actually Calgary has a pretty active road race community and a great track (not to mention the ice racing community). I hear there is an active solo group in the praries but not as much road racing. Winnipeg has a track on an old airport circuit (Gimley sp?). I remember a news report a few years back that had a comercial airplane making an emergency landing in the MIDDLE of a race. Can you imagine seeing that in your mirrors......

The problem with Candada is that we are the 2nd largest country in the world............so it's not like we can just get up and drive from Montreal to Vancouver for a SOLO event.
EDIT: Second!!!! Largest.

Bah, why bother? Everyone one knows that the drivers on the east coast are faster, eh?
All they have in the West is that certain A-mod thingy...
