Default Interest in 15x8 wheel?

Someone over in preludeonline is thinking about arranging a group buy for a set of 15x8 kodiaks. 3 piece, ~12 lbs, and BLiNg.

Seeing as the TE 37 is hard to find in that size, and Todd00's success with the 205/50/15 azenis on 15x8's i figured someone in here might be interested.

he'd post himself but he thinks you guys are all insular and ****.

kodiak's:

no price, or other details right now. just an idea at the moment. i'd assume you'd be able to get the popular 4x100 and 5x114.3 sizes as well as 5x100 but that's just speculation on my part.

I'd want two, but they'd have to be 8.5". 225/45-15 Hoosiers are just a little more than square on an 8.5 and on an 8 they're a little pinched. I'd rather pay more for exactry what I want.

Enlighten me - if you can run 205/50/15 on a 15x7, why is a 15x8 better?

I'm waiting to hear back on pricing. I think the center is the most expensive part, and the offset and backspacing is determined by the shell, so I think as long as we all buy the same center piece, they can accomodate different backspacings and widths. I'll ask to be sure.

BTW, I'm basing this on their wheel specials. It appears that they have the wheel centers already made, but the site says you can specify the width and backspacing.

They had to discount those to move them because they made too many. I hope you actually talked to them before talking about getting a group buy and this isn't going to turn out to be a giant cockblock based on a bad assumption.

No, I talked to them about buying new wheels, not overstocks. I'm basing my assumptions regarding width and backspacing on the fact that they list the overstock centers specs, then say that backspacing and width are to the customer's specs.

The e-mail I recieved from them stated that they do offer discounted pricing on mutliple orders for wholesale customers. I asked him what it takes to get an account there, and what kind of pricing would be available on an order of 4 to 5 sets of rims. I forgot to ask about different backspacing and widths with the same center specs (lug holes and spacing, hub pad depth, etc.).

I sent the e-mail a day or so ago, so I'm still waiting to hear back from them.

search would be best here. There are a couple threads with like 2 pages of people shooting off their opinions.

Basically people say there is more of a contact patch when you have a tire that has a sufficient rim size which allows the side walls to be more vertical instead of bulgy.

Ditto. I'm looking for 8.5" or wider... I could even go with a 15x10...

And of course being odd man out (DM), I'm also looking for 5x114.3 and a crazy offset... low 30's or mid 20's..... do-able?

I'm still waiting on a reply. If I don't hear from them by Monday or Tuesday, I'll just give them a call. They're in Canada, so I prefer e-mail.

15x10? You running NASCAR next season?

I'd run 15x10 if someone made a DOT legal tire to fit it. I'd need something like 20 mm offset to fit it tho.

Are NASCAR wheels even 10 inches wide? I'm pretty sure they are narrower than that.

I'm in D-Mod and don't need to run a dot legal tire.....

Lots of the prepared guys run 13x9's, but my brakes won't fit under a 13" wheel and I'd prefer a wider wheel..... for 245 slicks that would be nice.....

The drag guys typically run 13 inch wheels.
