Buying Prelude soon, TECH questions
sup, im a newbie
i'm about to buy a prelude (5th gen) manual of course. I doubt the prelude i find will have less than 100k miles, so after reading posts on this forum i found that i should run a compression test and a leak down test on the engine. Where exactly can i do this? my friends dad has a gas station that does inspections and he has some machines in there. How much would it cost for those tests to be done? Also, can someone please explain to me what these 2 tests do exactly, what do they measure, all the details etc.... Thanks

Compression test...
Take out the spark plugs & disable fuel & spark. Stick a special pressure gauge into the sparkplug hole & crank the starter while holding gas pedal down. Easy to do in anybody's driveway.
Leakdown test...
Take out a sparkplug, stick a special fitting into the hole. Apply compressed air & read the gauges. If the reading isn't real good you can also hear WHERE it's leaking.
Search...
I bet you can find more details about either of these.

One of my buddies with an SH told me that the SH isn't that great for autocrossing, especially at the S curves because it jerks the wheel...
I personally hate changing the oil on the SH because the ATTS is in the way..
